What Kululu does well
Kululu is built for the moment the photos appear. Guests scan a code or open a link, upload from the browser without installing anything or creating an account, and their pictures land in an album that can run as a live wall on a screen at the venue. Next to photos and videos, guests can post text and short video messages into the same album, so the wishes of the evening sit between the pictures of it.
The guest pages come in more languages than EventAssets offers today, which matters at an international wedding where not everyone reads the language of the hosts. And the free plan takes more uploads than EventAssets' free plan does, for a short window: enough to try it at a small gathering before deciding.
If what you need is an album and a wall for one evening, Kululu does exactly that, and does it without asking anything of your guests.
Where EventAssets offers more
EventAssets starts earlier than the photos. Each event has its own page with the schedule, the location on a map and what guests should know, and the same page collects the replies: guests find their name, answer for their whole party and fill in your questions. The guest list feeds the seating chart, where you place tables and seat parties, and guests later look up their table on the same page. Budgets sit beside it, so the costs of the day are planned in the place where the guests are.
The guestbook takes written messages and voice recordings made in the browser, signed with a name from the guest list or left anonymous. Uploads can wait for your approval before anyone sees them on every plan, not only on the larger ones, and albums keep the ceremony, the dinner and the party apart. Hosts can run all of it from the web or from the apps for iPhone and Android.
An album for the day, or a home for the event
The core difference is what each one is for. Kululu is an album with a wall: it begins when the first guest uploads and ends when the gallery goes offline. EventAssets is a home for the event: it begins with the page you send with the invitation, holds the replies and the seating, and keeps the photos, videos and messages afterwards.
How long guests can upload and how long the gallery stays online depends on the plan with Kululu and is the same on every plan with EventAssets; the table above sets the windows side by side, with the prices each plan costs. If you only need the album, compare those rows. If you would otherwise juggle an invitation tool, a spreadsheet for the seating and a separate guestbook, compare the planning rows as well.
What to check before you decide
Count your guests and estimate how much they will send: a wedding can easily bring in more photos and videos than you expect. Decide whether you want to approve uploads before they appear, whether messages should be written, spoken or filmed, and whether the replies and the seating chart belong in the same place. Then pick the plan that covers it, with either provider, and try the free plan first. With EventAssets, the event page, the guest list and the guestbook are yours to set up before you pay anything.
