What Snappshot does well
Snappshot is made for the screen at the party. Guests join with the party code, take pictures with the Snappshot app and see them appear moments later on a TV or a projector at the venue, in a feed that refreshes by itself. The host only needs a laptop with a browser connected to the screen, and the party code stays on the screen all evening, so late arrivals can still join. Snappshot calls itself the digital replacement for the disposable camera, and the idea shows: every guest becomes a photographer of the evening.
Getting in is quick. A digital party flyer carries the code to the guests, who enter their name instead of registering, and the booking page also describes a QR code for guests who would rather not install anything. Every package takes as many photos as the guests care to take. Photos can be deleted during the party, and on Premium every new photo can wait for approval before it reaches the screen. Afterwards, the host downloads the photos in full resolution and shares the album through a link.
The packages can be styled to the party: a welcome page and a countdown in the app, and from Plus a party code of your own and themes for the app and the photo feed. Premium adds a personalised app and presentation, emoji reactions in the app and notifications to the guests' phones during the party. DJs and venues offer Snappshot to their clients as partners, so it may already come with your DJ. If what you want is a lively screen on the night and a camera in every pocket, Snappshot is built for exactly that.
Where EventAssets offers more
EventAssets starts before the party and goes on after it. Each event has its own page with the schedule, the location on a map and what guests should know, and the same page collects the replies: guests find their name, answer for their whole party and fill in your questions before your deadline. The guest list feeds the seating chart, and guests later look up their table on the same page. Budgets with planned and actual amounts sit beside it.
The gallery takes photos and videos from the phone's browser in original quality, and guests keep adding them for months after the day, so the pictures that turn up the following week still find their way in. Albums keep the ceremony, the dinner and the party apart, guests react to and comment on the photos, and uploads can wait for your approval, all on every plan. The guestbook takes written messages and voice recordings made in the browser, signed with a name from the guest list or left anonymous. The number of guests does not change the price, and hosts run it all from the web or from the apps for iPhone and Android.
A camera for the party, or a home for the event
The core difference is the time each one covers. Snappshot is built around the party itself: the party code is active on the day you choose and into the following morning, the screen shows the evening as it happens, and afterwards the host has a limited period to download the album before the photos are removed. EventAssets is built around the event as a whole: it begins with the page you send with the invitation, holds the replies and the seating, and keeps the photos, videos and messages long after the day. EventAssets has no camera of its own and sends no notifications to guests; they upload what their phone has taken, whenever they like.
The prices follow the same logic. Snappshot sells a package per party, set by the number of guests, with more guests at a price per guest. EventAssets starts free for any number of guests and lifts its caps with one payment per event. The table above sets the plans side by side, with how long guests can upload and how long the photos stay available.
What to check before you decide
Think about where the photos should be seen first: on a screen at the venue during the party, or in a gallery that guests return to in the weeks after. Count your guests, since Snappshot's packages are set by their number, and check how long guests should be able to add their pictures and how long you need the photos to stay available. Decide whether wishes should be written or spoken in a guestbook, and whether the replies and the seating chart belong in the same place as the pictures. Then try it first: Snappshot offers a free trial for a few guests, and with EventAssets the event page, the guest list and the guestbook are yours to set up before you pay anything.
